Here is a list of useful pages around the World Wide Web. I
have included the approximate geographical locations of each page
so that you can get an idea of how fast the response will be.
Links to the United States tend to be the slowest but this
depends on the time of day. A very general rule is that the
further away the page, the slower the response.
Best time to access the Web: before 11:00am or out of
hours.
Worst time to access the Web: a weekday afternoon in term
time.
You can search for information on the Web by subject and keywords
using various search tools. Our Computing Services has a list of
search tools .

I have written local summary pages for many of these links. The
summaries are stored on the local machine here in Leeds so that
you can see if an entry in this index is relevant to you or not.
This can be quite a time saver particularly with slow links to
elsewhere in the world. It can be quite frustrating to wait for 2
or 3 minutes for a page to load from the USA only to find that
its not what you need. For more details read `About this
page and instructions.

If you have any pages that you use and think should be on this
list then please let me know. When asking for additions to this
list, bear in mind that I am trying to keep this list relevant to
the school of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. If you have
used any of the above pages, services and sites, and have any
comments which I could add to my summary pages, please feel free
to pass them on to me.
