Support for Microbiology Teaching for Dental Students

This site is designed to support Microbiology teaching within the curriculum for students of dentistry at Leeds. It will grow, along with developments in the dental curriculum.

The following links are to topics currently available:

There is also access to a tutorial on the importance of bacterial identification. To access the feedback, please use this link to the tutorial on bacterial identification, which will open a new window.

In March 2008, there was a tutorial on antimicrobial chemotherapy, material for which may still be accessed by following this link to the tutorial on the use of antibiotics, which will also open a new browser window. N.B. Since the tutorial ran live, the information has been updated to reflect the NICE guidance on the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in dental surgery, published in March 2008. A new feedback resource was generated for this tutorial material in April 2009. It may be accessed from this link.

In May 2008, there was a tutorial on infection control in the health-care setting. Material that will help for preparation may be accessed by following this link to the tutorial on cross-infection, which will open a new window.

There is currently a small problem with accessing the tutorial links using Internet Explorer. If you find that the page to which you wish to link is not available, refreshing your browser window seems to establish the link.
