Biomedical Engineering Group

There is an extremely successful collaboration between the Immunology research group (Prof. E. Ingham) and the Biomedical Engineering research group (Prof. J. Fisher; Mechanical Engineering). Multidisciplinary projects funded by EPSRC, Industry and Charities are investigating the biological response to prosthetic wear debris (polythene, metal, ceramide), artificial lubricants for joint disease, tissue engineering of cardiac valves, skin and ligaments.

Currently the collaboration involves around 15 Postdoctoral Research Fellows and 25 PhD students.
